F-1 Status Check: What You Need to Do Before Fall 2025 Starts

Always make sure to request prior authorization with the OISS (and you are issued the appropriate update on your I-20) for any of the following:

• Is Fall 2025 your last semester or term to graduate? Submit your Reduced Course Load request.
• Applying for Internships? Visit our OISS "Employment" page and watch our "Introduction to Curricular Practical Training" Workshop video!
• Are you unable to resume studies in Fall 2025? Meet with us and submit your Leave of Absence Request.
• For Grad. Students only: Planning on taking vacation for fall term 2025? Submit your Term Off request.
• Is your I-20 expiring soon? First check your program end date on your I-20. If the time does not cover your time as student during the fall 2025 and your still need more classes to take, submit your Program Extension request immediately!

Moved Recently? Don’t Forget to Update Your U.S. Address!

If you have moved since originally submitting your US-based residential address (where you physically reside), then you need to submit your change of LOCAL address update within 10 calendar days. You can check what residential (local) address is listed on your OISS Student Portal "Personal & Program" tab, and if requiring update(s), please proceed with the following steps:

• Go to Academic Services' "Forms & Documents" page
• Click on "Name/Address Change Form"
• Fill it out and send to academicservices@callutheran.edu 
• After 3 business days, make sure your new address has been updated. If your address is not updated, please contact Academic Services. academicservices@callutheran.edu.

After the university processes the update, the OISS will receive a notification that your local address was changed in SEVIS. Please allow up to 10 business days for the change to reflect on your OISS student portal.
