It is essential to keep your contact information up to date to remain compliant with immigration requirements.

Please review the information currently listed in your OISS student portal. If your U.S. residential address, mailing address, permanent address or phone number is incorrect or has changed, you must update it within 10 calendar days of the move. If your mailing address is different from your residential address, please make sure both addresses are accurately reflected in your student portal.

You should also update your phone number/name whenever it changes to ensure you receive important university and immigration-related communications.

THINKING ABOUT OPT? START PLANNING NOW!

If you are considering Optional Practical Training (OPT), you may submit your application to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as early as 90 days before your program completion date and no later than the end date of your grace period. 

 

Your program completion date is the official end date of your final academic term or semester. Planning ahead and preparing your application early can help ensure a smooth OPT application process.


To verify your program completion date, please review the academic calendar.


USCIS must receive your application within 30 days from the date your OPT I-20 was issued to you. Be sure to carefully review all OPT requirements and deadlines to avoid delays or issues with your application.

MPOWER WOMEN IN STEM SCHOLARSHIP

The MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship was created to support high-achieving international and DACA women pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). Sponsored by MPOWER Financing, this scholarship recognizes women who are committed to using STEM education to make a positive impact in their communities and advance innovation in their fields. Scholarship funds may be used toward educational expenses at eligible institutions in the United States or Canada.

 

Deadline: July 31, 2026

 

Awards: $5,000, $2,000, $1,000 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to female international or DACA students accepted to or enrolled full-time in a STEM degree program at an MPOWER-eligible school in the United States or Canada. (CLU is eligible)

  • Must be legally permitted to study in the United States or Canada

  • Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to advancing women in STEM fields.
  • No minimum GPA requirement is specified.
