Dr. John Nunes will be officially installed as Cal Lutheran’s 9th president during the Installation Service, a highlight of Homecoming Weekend.

*IMPORTANT* Government Updates: Proposed Rule & Visa Interview Guidance |

1. Proposed Change to “Duration of Status” (D/S)
The Department of Homeland Security has proposed eliminating the current “Duration of Status” (D/S) policy, replacing it with a fixed visa end date. This is a proposed rule only and is not yet in effect. The public comment period ends September 29, 2025.
2. New Guidance for Visa Interviews
The U.S. Department of State now requires that nonimmigrant visa applicants, including F and J categories, schedule their visa interviews in their country of nationality or residence. This change limits third-country visa processing and may impact students with expired or soon-to-expire visas who plan to travel.
