International Women's Day 2024 |
Join us in commemorating International Women's Day as we celebrate the incredible contributions of women around the globe. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the pivotal role women have played and continue to play in shaping our world. From pioneering leaders and trailblazing scientists to compassionate caregivers and resilient activists, women have left an indelible mark on every facet of society. As we honor their achievements, let us also reflect on the ongoing journey towards gender equality, recognizing the importance of empowerment, representation, and inclusivity for all. Together, let us strive towards a future where every woman's voice is heard, valued, and respected. While the world will celebrate on the official March 8th date, CLU plans to celebrate after spring break.
In recognition of our extraordinary Cal Lutheran women's leadership, including our 110 female international students, the Center for Global Engagement invites the campus community and community partners to a recognition dinner gathering on Tuesday, March 12. RSVP is required by March 6. Contact global@callutheran.edu with questions.

CLU Lunar New Year: Welcoming the Dragon
The recent Lunar New Year Event was a spectacle for the senses, bringing together students in a vibrant celebration of culture and community. Amidst the festivities, students delighted in the delectable dumplings coordinated by Student Life and served up by Diane's Dumpling Food truck, savoring every bite of these traditional treats that bring good fortune for the new year.
The mesmerizing rhythms of the Togen Daiko Taiko drummers filled the air, enchanting the audience and inspiring some adventurous students to try their hand at drumming. Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to explore their creative side at craft tables, where they decorated dragon cookies provided by Sodexo, experimented with Chinese calligraphy shared by AAPI Affinity Group volunteers, and learned about international Fair Trade teas showcased by the Global Leaders Community members and donated by the Ascension Lutheran Church's Global Ministry Team. The Year of the Dragon celebration closed with captivating Camarillo Kung Fu and Lion Dance group's lion dance performance, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed their dynamic performance.
